NCDC is continuing to work on behalf of Catholic fundraisers with our top three major areas of current concern: protecting the charitable tax deduction, postal reform, and expansion of the IRA rollover.
“Among all the other news stories circulating, we encourage Catholic fundraisers to keep these issues in the forefront. These are key fundraising components that will have a long term impact on our donors and our mission advancement efforts. We all know that without monetary support, our missions can be jeopardized,” commented Sr. Georgette Lehmuth, OSF, President/CEO of NCDC.
While health care legislation is the top story this week, tax reform will follow closely behind. “The longer healthcare reform takes, the longer we wait for tax reform,” stated the Alliance for Charitable Reform (ACR). “Administration officials, including Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, have said recently they expect healthcare reform and tax reform to be done by Labor Day.“ For a quick review of where NCDC and our partners in this alliance stand on this issue, check out the Guiding Principles for Tax Reform from ACR.
Next week, all eyes will be on the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) comment page for the ten-year rate review. This is for public input to the process in which the PRC must decide whether the postage rate regulatory process that has been in place since 2007 is sufficiently meeting the nine objectives set by Congress. If it is not, then the PRC is directed by Congress to make changes. [Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers] NCDC and a number of our members submitted comments to the PRC letting them know the importance of stable postal rates. Our thanks to the NCDC members who submitted comments.
IRA Rollover Expansion
